    …and that’s not even counting advertising embedded within video game content, either statically or dynamically-retrieved (circa 2007-ish), or the modern trend of advertising as a form of currency: the vast majority of “free” mobile apps operate on the premise of a user paying with their attention to advertising within the app rather than with money up front.
