Impact Investing in Action is a global marketplace designed to showcase entrepreneurs from Mexico and Central America and matches these world-changing small businesses with key investment opportunities.
The handpicked entrepreneurs from Agora’s Accelerator Program pitched their ventures and investment needs to an audience from all sectors of the impact-investing world, including representatives from investment funds, foundations and global development agencies.
Among the conference’s objectives was to create an active community with the knowledge and networks to bring together all people who have the same objective: to use the power and efficiency of business to create ecological, social and/or economic impact. Within this community are investment funds, private investors, growth companies, foundations and non-profits.
During the conference, Agora’s 12 entrepreneurs from Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador pitched their projects to 16 international investors representing 20 companies/organizations.
The entrepreneurs’ projects were focused on creating impact in the following areas: economic development, energy/environment, education/culture, technology/health and housing.
The good news for Latin America is that Agora Partnerships is in the process of recruiting its next class of early-stage entrepreneurs from throughout the region. Agora is looking beyond Central America and Mexico and expanding their Accelerator services to entrepreneurs in South America who are solving social, economic and environmental problems in their communities.
Once selected, businesses enter the Acceleration Program, a process that positions the companies best for future investment.
